Second Attach File Button on Basic Form - How to differentiate them OR can we do Multiple file upload in same attach file?

Hello folks

Currently we are using OOTB portal config to attach a file in basic form and create notes in D365. Now we need to add 2nd attach file button on same form to upload another file.

Is there a way we could add note subject so that these 2 files looks nice in the D365 timeline as well differentiated to know it came from Attachfile1 or Attachfile2 buttons.

I probably think its a custom code required or an API, however I would like to know if anyone has any ideas please?

OR can we do multiple file upload using same button so that it goes into same note with 2 attachments?

Thanks

Arjun

Hi, did you enable the options below within your Basic Form?

@OliverRodrigues  Thanks Oliver for the reply. Yes I did however all this is allowing me to do is Ctrl+click to select multiple files from the same folder and attaches. I think we cannot expect users would be doing that. If I select one file and upload, then select another to upload, 2nd file replaces the 1st one. So this doesn't work efficiently.

My general approach when it comes to uploading files is:

    • Create a separate table "Application Documents" for example
    • Allow document upload (single) in that table
    • Add metadata to the document, for example, document description / type / etc

I find that this approach works better in my projects, hope this helps.

If not, you can add alert / text to explain the user the behaviour if they click again on the browse file
