Requesting advice on collaborating for Power Platform certification support

Hi everyone,

I’m part of a small team based in South Africa working on a Microsoft 365 solution that is already in use by a client. Alongside this, we’re developing a learning and practice platform to help students prepare for Microsoft Power Platform certifications.

We’re exploring community-driven ways to support learners who are working toward Power Platform exams, particularly around practical guidance, real-world usage, and alignment with certification objectives.

I’d really appreciate input from experienced Power Platform practitioners on:

  • What has worked well when mentoring or supporting learners preparing for certification
  • How practitioners typically collaborate with education-focused initiatives
  • Common gaps students face when moving from learning to real exam readiness

If anyone has experience in Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, or broader M365 tools (Teams, SharePoint, etc.) and is open to sharing insights or discussing possible collaboration models, I’d value your perspective.

Thanks in advance for any guidance or shared experiences.

When preparing learners for Power Platform exams, do you usually give students real client–based projects, or do you mainly use demo or sample scenarios?

If you providing the real time based projects we have to work on the dataset as well, client project which you delivered might went for lot of iterations before the final one and it might have also some governance policies as well.

You have to provide the application to the learners which gives an idea how to handle the scenarios which you have faced in the real time that insights will help them when they have deployed in the real time projects.

Hi, thank you for taking the time to respond.

I’m still trying to connect everything, but it’s helpful to hear different perspectives on how exam readiness links to real-world application.

For the community: when preparing learners for Power Platform exams, do you usually give students real client–based projects, or do you mainly use demo or sample scenarios?

What has worked better in your experience?

You have to start with Scenario‑based learning over theoretical coverage, For example you have covered the concepts of power platform such as variables, controls, pass data to flow / receive data from flow. Based on this provide hands-on exercise to the learners so they can easily able to connect the dots.
    • Simple Approval (Leave / Finance) application integration with SharePoint / Dataverse and Power Automate.
but there is no mandate every person should have Microsoft Certification then only they have Power Platform Knowledge, the exam validates how they have understood the concepts in real time just like university graduation program.

Look out for the local community groups, I am not sure something exist for region in specific & connect with technology specific person to understand what are the business values they have deriving out with power platform and what are best practice which they are following in the application deliverables this gives great values to the learners.

I give some sample topics, while at the time of implementation we have covered the basics of the component and we make learners towards the readiness however with below topics they haven't aware of anything. While time of implementation they will learn what is what and what is the purpose and how we can leverage the functionalities
    • Environment & DLP
    • ALM and Solution Packaging
    • Licensing & Governance
I have shared my view it varies from person to person All the best!!
