Customise Form errors/alerts that appear when trying to submit? or Show the same error messages that are showing in the Project for the web!

In the pic example, there is a Business Rule that doesn`t allow for one date to be lower than the other, when that happens, an error appears, it is customised in the Porject for the Web, and I also want to customise it in the Portal website. Instead of that text, I want to it to say "Please set the Date 1 lower than Date 2" for example. How can I do that?

Hi @Robert94 , you can customize the validation by using the Portal Management app, located in the Apps section on make.powerapps.com (make sure to select the environment associated to your site).

From there, navigate to Basic Form, find the form you want to edit, navigate to the Basic Form Metadata tab, and create a New Basic Form Metadata. Add an Attribute record Type and select the field you want to validate.

Scroll to the Validation section and make the changes you want from there.

You can find more information at https://docs.microsoft.com/power-apps/maker/portals/configure/configure-basic-form-metadata

    I hope this helps?

Hi @hugobernier, thanks for your response.
I changed the validation, but I still get the same error text, and nothing else changes.
I don`t think I understood what exactly this validation setting does.

The error text that I want to customise, comes from a business rule set up in the dataverse.

You'll also need to add validation to the page to prevent the business rule from taking effect.

Here is an example of how to do so: https://docs.microsoft.com/power-apps/maker/portals/configure/add-custom-javascript

So I`d have to cancel the business rule, and create the rule from scratch using JS?

  • Hugo Bernier Profile Picture

No, the business rule is still valid, but you are trying to prevent it from being triggered on the client side. Unfortunately, business rules are not enforced on the client side at the moment.

What I understood is that I have to create a validation/condition/rule using JS, then customise the error text using the metadata settings.
But would it not be easier to just customise the error message of that business rule using JS?

You don't need both. If you use 'JS you can do it all in JS.

I think you are having the issue because the validation @hugobernier is suggesting only supports single line of text.

    Read this carefully.

And just use Javascript. Save your work and create a validation library you can use in all of your projects. This is very powerful to have.
