Dynamics 365 and Power Pages data ownership

I'm pretty new at Power Pages but I've found that when using Dynamics 365 as the data source I'm having problems with data ownership.

I have a couple of business units on the Dynamics 365 instance, when records are owned by users sitting at one of the child business units the data is not visible within the Power Pages Portal. But once the records have been moved to the top business unit they become visible.

What am I doing wrong ? Is there a way to have the data remain owned by these child business units and still be visible on the Portal ?

My understanding is that Power Pages completely ignores business units when it comes to record ownership, and look only at Table Permissions.

Not sure how your permissions are set, but can you temporarily move them to Global scope, to see if this makes any difference?

Would your logic by any chance be changing lookups value for contact that could be configured in your permissions?

I've checked and the Access Type has been set to Global, even the local contact record used for logon I experience the same issue. If the contact record has been setup for portal access but is owned by on of the Child Business Units the contact will not be visible. Moving the record ownership to the mains Business Unit then it works and is accessible.

Just to confirm it is Power Pages (or PowerApps Portal)  and not a Canvas App? if Power Pages, what authentication do you have setup and what Table Permissions (as as per Oliver it uses SYSTEM user as the connection, and as such has full access to data, irrespective of the BU, but is limited by Table Permission records).

Yes it is a Power Apps Portal using Dynamics 365 as the data source. I'm using local authentication, from what I can tell the Portal's user has for full permission to accessing the Dynamics 365 data. And the WebRole that I created does have Global Access rights.
