What things need to consider when multiple website created in a single Portal

Hi Experts,

I have a requirement where in Portal (CDS as a data source) I have to include multiple websites for the different requirements in the same portal in an environment.

What all things need to take into consideration if I do that? Is there any impact that happens in performance or development?

Please suggest your thought.

Thanks,

Amit

    Hi @Anonymous ,

I would suggest you to review the official CDS ( DataVerse docs) . Link for your reference.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/capacity-storage

I believe you need to increase your dataverse (CDS) capacity for better performance.

    Hi @ragavanrajan

    Thanks for your response.

Apart from cds capacity, is there anything else need to be considered for creating multiple website in a same portal?

Also after going through the link, I didn't get anything related to cds capacity and website. Please help me to understand.

    Thanks,

    Amiy

Hi @Anonymous , On the given link under the first note there is clear guide . I am adding the screenshot for your reference. It will download the pdf file. You can see information related to CDS on page 13 and page 18 gives you good information.

    Hi @ragavanrajan

    Thanks for sharing the details.

But those are about licensing. How that is linked with multiple websites in the same portal? Just wanted to know. That's correct that the number of hits or login is counted per portal and by including multiple websites is there any impact on that?

Sorry for asking this all silly questions but I just wanted to be sure to take an appropriate decision. one more thing is it a good idea or option to include multiple websites in the same portal?

    Hi @ragavanrajan And All Experts,

I have created one another website in a portal but how can I use that because I can't see any changes in portal after that. No another link generated for that or any option in portal to select that website.

Also I can see that all other configuration related to new website is not created automatically, So which means I need to create one by one all the site settings, Content Snippit, Web Template, Page Template etc. Is that the way it works?

How can I use different websites for a portal? Need help to understand how multiple website works in portal.

    Thanks,

    Amit

Hi @Anonymous , I assume you have created the website from

    1. Open Portal management > Portals > Website

    2. Then you might have created a new one.

If so then you have to define the header, footer, content snippets, page templates, web roles, etc..

You can read more about in the following official learn site

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/modules/portal-custom-web/

    Hope it helps

    Hi @AmitSah ,

Did you manage to configure it? I have the same issue.

This seems to be an old thread, @gandrey what issues are you facing? might be no harm to create a new thread

if not too late, I would add one more comment here as consideration for when having multiple Portals under the same instance:

    • Portals contains several OOB workflows, i.e.: Send Invitation or any other.. these workflows aren't filtered by Website, so you should probably look at those and customize them according to your needs

    a) make sure that when you installed the second portal that it was into the same environment as the first one (otherwise you will not see it in the same Environment/instance) - environment selector in the top right of the banner in make.powerapps.com

    b) When you install a second or third portal it needs to be of a different type - e.g. Blank/Custom + Customer Self Service (e.g. you can't do 2 Bank/Custom portals in the same DataVerse environment this would overwrite the first one not add a second one in)

If the additional portal install was successful you should see a Website Binding record for it, and Website, and Content Snippets and Web Pages etc for both the existing portal and the new one.

I'd like to create 10 websites for different locations, each with own news and chat but all the functionality will be the same.

Question 1: Can it be done under one portal?
Now I have one website generated automatically with the portal, when I try to add another one website I can't see it in my web-browser. I tried to bind it in "Website Bindings" and nothing changed.

Question 2: Should I use auto-generated website as a parent?
