How do I configure a list in power pages, to support bulk row inserts and bulk row updates to the underlying tables it is connected to in the Dataverse. If not using lists, is there any other way to achieve the same in power pages.

Thanks!

    Hi   ,

Thank you for choosing Microsoft Community.

I hope these steps help resolve the issue! If you need more specific guidance, feel free to ask.

To configure a list in Power Pages for bulk row inserts and updates to the underlying tables in Dataverse, you can follow these steps:

Configuring a List in Power Pages

    1. Create a List:

      • Go to the Power Pages design studio.

      • Create a new list and select the table from Dataverse that you want to connect to.

    2. Enable Bulk Actions:

      • In the list configuration, enable actions such as create, edit, and delete.

      • You can configure these actions in the Grid Configuration section under the Options tab.

    3. Set Up Permissions:

      • Ensure that the appropriate table permissions are set up to allow users to perform bulk actions.

      • You can configure these permissions in the Portal Management app.

    4. Use Advanced Settings:

      • If needed, use advanced settings to customize the list further, such as overriding column attributes or setting up custom error messages.

For more detailed instructions, you can refer to the Microsoft documentation on list configuration.

Alternative Methods for Bulk Data Operations

If you prefer not to use lists, you can achieve bulk data operations in Power Pages using Power Automate or custom code:

    1. Power Automate:

      • Create a flow in Power Automate that handles bulk inserts and updates.

      • Trigger the flow from Power Pages using a button or other user action.

      • Use the Dataverse connector in Power Automate to perform the bulk operations.

    2. Custom Code:

      • Use JavaScript or other client-side code to handle bulk operations.

      • You can call Dataverse APIs directly from your custom code to perform bulk inserts and updates.

For more information on using Power Automate for bulk data operations, you can refer to the Microsoft documentation on creating and updating bulk records.

These methods should help you configure and manage bulk data operations in Power Pages effectively. If you need further assistance or specific details on any of these steps, feel free to ask!

Thank you for your prompt response. I was able to configure a list in the power pages with Create, Update and Delete actions. However, all these actions are done one row at a time. I was looking for ways where I could do a bulk row inserts and updates through forms in power pages. Is there any specific configuration to enable bulk actions?. Is it possible to a multi select in lists?

It depends on exactly what you need to do - there is no standard out of the box way to achieve this.

You can use the Portals Web API to perform operations (e.g. you could build your own grid [3rd link does something like this], and on update of a value in the grid, or on a button press use the Web API to update records).  If you do not need to see it on the portal straight away then could also use Power Pages Flow, or a Plugin.

Have also seen people use a Kendo Grid, and then read and update using the Web API.
