Hello All,
I am not from core IT background & a mechanical engineer who knows coding. I have been exploring Portals from few weeks now & it is the only option that I need to use for our current project. We have already started building solution in portals . So far I haven't explored much of Canvas or Model Driven App, but from experts here I need to know that Is Model driven app what runs behind Portal App ? If I understand Model driven App , will it my life easier to build portal apps more efficiently?
Thanks All & kind regards.
A vital role for this Model-driven app is a data approach. It is best at handling the data models which are more complicated. Using a Model-driven app will provide you with an enormous feature to configure your data in a secure way. If you want to know more about this feature, please reach out here https://www.dynamicslabs.io/

What Raga has posted is correct, however I am not sure if you are asking how to manage the Portal (Portal Managment App) or looking for the Entities etc where the data is stored these are in DataVerse. Model driven apps are a collection of DataVerse objects presented as a User Interface for users (eg. if creating updating an Account record this update will be in all the Model Driven Apps that contain the account entity/table).
Hi @mvp9
The simple answer is Portal is backed by a Model-driven app called " Portal Management". It is good to have knowledge of how model-driven apps and their features like content snippets, site settings, markers, etc. will work.
I am adding the official link to go through
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-apps/maker/portals/configure/configure-portal
Alternatively, Portal architecture is evolving meaning, you can perform most of the significant operations in "Portal Studio". It is still a bit flaky but not bad I would say. So without the help of portal management (model-driven) app you can set permissions, change color themes, add new pages, etc.
Hope it sheds some light on you.
