Upgrading from the old D365 CRM Portal to Power Pages

Hello Community,

Our client D365 CE environment has the "old" Dynamics 365 Portals provisioned (i.e. the old domain microsoftcrmportals.com). I would appreciate insights on the following questions:

1. I understand the old portal (microsoftcrmportals.com) has been deprecated. But we can still perform administration and configuration changes on it? If yes, where could we access the old portal studio to make portal changes - would we see the old portal (microsoftcrmportals.com) listed as a portal app in make.powerapps.com ?

2. If we want to upgrade the old portal (make.powerapps.com) to the latest Power Pages, is it as simple as just updating the portal domain from make.powerapps.com to the power pages domain? Is there any documentation or guided steps on how to move from the old portal (make.powerapps.com) to Power Pages? I assume we don't need to move from the old portal -> Power Apps Portal -> Power Pages, and we can go straight from the old portal -> Power Pages, because Power Apps Portal = Power Pages. Am I right?

3. Does Power Pages use the same portal domain "powerappsportals.com" as Power Apps Portal, or a different domain?

Thank you!

Find your Portal in the make.powerapps interface under Apps, and then click the three dots to the right of the Name and choose Edit - It will detect if you are Portal or Power Pages - if not power pages it will give you the option to go Power Pages or stay with the old editor,.  Or you can edit the components 'old school' from the Portal Management App.

It is not really a migration as the back-end is pretty much the same, the Power Pages editor is however different (and I would still make a copy of the portal prior to switching to the new editor).

I haven't done it but would suspect that the domain remains the same (same as it did when they went from 365 portal to powerapps portal).

    Hi @Fubar ,

Thank you for your reply! However, for the old D365 portal, would you know how we would edit to make changes to the portal? The reason I am asking is that for Power Apps Portal, I know we could make changes in the "Portal Management" app. However, I notice in the client's D365 instance, which is using the old D365 portal, there is no Portal Management app, so we have no way of accessing Portal Management, and therefore we are not sure how we could make configuration changes to the old portal. Would you have any further insights?

    Thanks.

Make sure that it is actually not there - e.g. that someone hasn't

t changed the Security Role settings against the App (you can set them so not even System Administrators can use the App) - look for it in the Default Solution under Apps.

If it is actually not there I would be suprised.  if you are using the Portal then the Tables with the content will still exist so you can advanced find them if need be.

You can also delete the Portal and reinstall it - in make.powerapps under apps find your App of type = Portal then use the 3 dots to delete it.  Then install a new Portal of the same template e.g. customer self service etc when doing the install there will be an option to use existing Portal, if you choose it it will keep your existing portal but also update the Portal Solutions etc.
