creating a zip file

Is there a way in flow to create a zip file. I see the ability to extract archive files. In searching, I don't see a mechanism so as a request. Can we add this functionality to the convert file function? I see it will convert to a PDF. Converting a file to a ZIP would be awesome!

    Hi,

I’m afraid there is no action about Converting a file to a ZIP in MS Flow currently.

If you would like this feature to be added in Microsoft Flow, please submit an idea to Flow Ideas Forum:

There isn't an in-built action. But I have developed a method that enables this functionality:

    Hello Paulie78,

This method would work with File System?

Not a local filesystem, I think it would work with files hosted on OneDrive.

That would be great. Do you have a rough idea which steps need to be changed to make it work with OneDrive ?

    better late then never:

I used an external connector (Encodian) for this.

However, Paulie posted a video telling how to create ZIPs for free:

    HI,

I have a similar scenario, but mine is i need to zip a file/report which is downloaded from PowerBI Paginated report. The files are in ecel.csv format. My requirement is to zip those files and email to different recipients based the report data.

Is there any way to zip the files using Power Automate flow?

    Thanks in advance!!

    Hello Paulie!
I tried your approach and it works but it is only zipping 30 files, do you have idea on it? Thanks

Hi folks, as an alternative to Paul’s and the Encodian offering, I built a PoC to utilise Azure Functions that I would like to share with you:

How to Create an Azure Function to Zip Files via Power Automate or Logic Apps
    https://youtu.be/u2c4-acjWuU

We had a requirement to zip files outside of SharePoint and OneDrive and so this accepts an array of base64 file content.

    Cheers
    Damien

Hi, so I tried using @Paulie78 method of converting to ZIP and it worked... my only problem is: the zip file is being created with mediatype application/x-zip-compressed, whereas I need it as application/zip for further processing with the Adobe Connector. Maybe someone knows a workaround or method to convert or to get file as application/zip from the start?
