Import (managed) solution failed because "Attribute is a Picklist, but a MultiSelectPicklist type was specified."

Hello everybody,

I had to change the dataype of a field from Picklist to MultiSelectPicklist. I did so on the development environment, exported the solution as a managed solution. When trying to import it into the managed Test system the import fails with the  error message ."Attribute <fieldname> is a Picklist, but a MultiSelectPicklist type was specified."

How can I import a solution with modified type specifications? I tried update ("replaces your older solution with this one" - I expect this to work for modifications of datatypes ) and  and upgrade and both failed.

Is there a way to get the modification transferred to the managed solution?

on development system from where the export is done:

on test system

This should be replaced.

Any hint/help would be very much appreciated.

Kind regards

Hello, @CPro2, have you tried to delete the solution from the testing environment, and re-import it as a new managed solution?

Yes, I guess it's by design, not an easy solution AFAIK, I'd create a new field altogether and eventually delete the previous one using managed import from the targe.

    Thanks  @AhmedSalih, @shashankbhide

In the end, I removed the multiselectpicklist fields from the source solution, exported it. When importing to the destination environment (managed solution) I used the upgrade option. By this the picklist fields could be removed from the destination environment.

Then I added the multiselectpicklist fields again to the source solution, exported this again and imported it using option update to the destination environment.

That's what finally did the job.

    Kind regards
