Hi There,

Looking for some help here and providing a bit more information to my question. I am new at this and learning everything as I go. Some guidance would be appreciated.

I'm looking to auto assign a task based on the criteria selected on Forms.

Forms question/criteria:

If someone select manager 1 for example - when the task is created in planner, we want it to auto assign it to the manager selected.

Here is my current flow:

I do have the email address added, but it's still not assigning correctly. It's doing everything else but assigning to a user.

Yes, we want it to assign to the user based on email address selected under 5. Core Leader.

Ok, I can see the error now there. It looks like the dynamic content you picked for the Assigned User ID is not a correct user id
    • Data Format: Ensure that the data format matches what the Planner API expects. For example, Assignee IDs should be in the correct format (usually email addresses or Azure AD object IDs).

Are you picking the email address of the submitter from a custom field where they enter it or are you picking the email address that gets automatically grabbed from the form. If you are doing the second one and anonymous form entries are turned on you will not be getting an email address.

Whatever you put in that "Assigned User ID" field needs to be an email address or a Azure AD Object ID.

Sorry, I'm not sure how to tag anyone here - again, this all brand new to me.

And I don't have anyone listed as manager 1,2 or 3 - I just changed it to remove our information. But it does have everyone correct name. I tried the email address too, but no luck.

I have no clue about building a list via sharepoint or excel and how to configure any of that.

    Hi

I answered on your other thread as well.

It's still not clear what you mean. Are you getting an error and if so can you share it?

Obviously, the string Manager 1 isn't going to mean anything to a task, so you have to convert that to their actual email or ADID.

So properly converting that string to an email, requires you to store it somewhere and do a lookup to that data to get the actual email that goes along with the string Manager 1 or 2 etc and insert that.

But can you please share your inputs and what the actual issue is specifically

    Thanks!

How to auto assign a task to a team member based on form intake criteria
    Hello,

Can you expand the "add assignees to a task" action in edit mode as well as history mode and post some screenshots? I am wondering what the error message it is giving beyond bad request.

    Some common solutions and ideas:

    • Consider adding a delay in between the creation of the task and assigning it. It can sometimes take a while for the task to be created in order to assign a user to it.
    • Invalid or Missing Parameters: Ensure that all required fields (like Task ID, Assignee IDs) are correctly filled. Double-check that the IDs are valid and correctly formatted.
    • Permissions: Verify that you have the necessary permissions to add assignees to the task in Planner. Sometimes, lack of permissions can cause this error.
    • Data Format: Ensure that the data format matches what the Planner API expects. For example, Assignee IDs should be in the correct format (usually email addresses or Azure AD object IDs).
