Moving authorised users from old site to new site

Hi,

I have an older powerpage (standard data model) with a couple of thousand registered/authorised users, all with their own unique username and password (of course).

Now, I've been building a new site (enhanced data model) to replace the old site.

The new site will sit on the same environment as the old one.

My big question/concern is --

I want to move/migrate/automatically grant access to our current authorised users on the new site.

Will this happen automatically (because it's the same environment)? Is there anything I need to do, if so, what (like, would I need to associate roles with the new site)?

I wouldn't want everyone having to re-register, if it can be avoided.

I haven't done that myself, but I believe with regards username/password, if you are using local credentials, this will just work automatically

This should be easy enough to test once you setup the new EDM site

If you are using any custom Web Roles, you will need to assign them to your Contacts as the relationship is different. If you are just using Authenticated / OOB roles you don't need to worry

On another note entirely, local authentication is deprecated and you should avoid. The way to go here should be Azure AD B2C or Entra External ID
