Updating data from Dynamics 365 to Power Pages

Hi.

I am new to power pages and need some advice on the below request from our customer.

I have created the power pages portal and a contact can receive the invitation and capture information on his account record. what I want to know is, if it is possible to then update the record in Dynamics 365 and that updated data can push through to the power pages and the contact can see the updated data when they login to power pages again.

Ideally both the Dynamics 365 user and power pages user can update the record on both ends and be able to see the updated records on both sides. Is it possible and how can it be accomplished if it can be done.

Thanks.

To answer your question, yes, it is possible to update the records in Dynamics 365 and Power Pages and have them synchronized on both ends. This is because Power Pages uses the same Dataverse tables as Dynamics 365, so any changes made in one platform will be reflected in the other.

However, to achieve this, you need to make sure that you have configured the table permissions and the forms correctly in Power Pages. You also need to use the Web API to write, update, and delete records from Power Pages.

If you looking update Contact profile, You need add permission to Contact table as Self Access. I prefer create simple form first in Dataverse (for layout and required fields) then initiate it through Portal, In Form configuration select Update Existing record.  Add form to page. By default it use query parameter to fill a data, I switch to Current Portal user so form is filled with existing data. User can update his contact info an submit,
On Dataverse side it will be immediate update, but if you update in Dataverse it will takes  about 15 minutes to reflect on pages. (due to caching).
