Issue with SQL Managed Instance connection and service principal

Hi,

I am developing a new flow that needs to perform a query in one of our cloud SQL Managed Instances. The SQL MI has been configured to use Service Principal authentication type and currently we are being able to connect to it from SSMS using service principal.

When I define the connector, Power Automate says the connection is alive, but when trying to use that connection from a flow, we are getting a few error messages like these:

  • 'Failed to retrieve dynamic outputs. As a result, this operation's outputs might not be visible in subsequent actions. Error details: The gateway did not receive a response within the specified time period. Cannot fulfill the request to the remote server.'
  • 'The gateway did not receive a response within the specified time period. Cannot fulfill the request to the remote server.'

Some screenshots are attached showing this problem. Hopefully someone gets to help me as there has been a couple of days since I can't find a solution.

Ulises.

    Hi @UlisesPedrozo

Yeah I noticed you said its a Cloud instance, but the error is clearly thinking you have a Gateway, do you use a Gateway for other stuff? Any chance its accidentally being used?

Sorry for the misunderstanding, it is not an on-prem SQL Managed Instance, so there is no possibility to use any Gateways.

    Hope this information helps.

    Thank you,

    Ulises.

    Hi @UlisesPedrozo

Are you using the Microsoft Data Gateway, since its onprem?

Do you have the Gateway configured to run/use as a Service Principal so that when it makes the calls etc it works?
