Use multistep form/advanced form for read only view

Hi everyone,

I have a situation where I want the end user to view the details, he/she entered while creating the multistep form. My multistep form has some conditions in it, so it skips some steps and fills in certain steps. Now, I want the user to see the details after he/she submits the form. My first step in the form is insert mode and others are edit mode. The problem is that I can't seem to add "Multistep form" in the view settings as it takes only "Basic form", "Webpage", and "URL". The problem is that if I route it to the same webpage where I am using the multistep form, it takes it as insert/edit mode and not in the read-only mode. What are my options to show the user what he/she has submitted?

    Hi @Anonymous ,

You can set a Multiselect from on your Basic form. I have used this couple of times and it works for me. Please follow these steps:

    1. Go to your list (where you have to show your multistep form) for details button.
    2. Select Target Type as Web Page and set your Web Page
    3. Open your Web Page, that you set in step 02 and open Content Page
    4. On Content Page, set your Details Multistep form in (multistep form) lookup.
    5. After this, on clicking on Details -> You will be redirected to your Multistep form.

Please check attached screenshot for reference:

Feel free to share, if you have any questions.

    Thanks,

    Saud

If you want to re-display as a multi step, then you probably will need to create another multi step without an Insert as the first step.  Then in your List navigate to it via a Web Page.   The same issue exists if you want to do a scenario where you resume an in progress one (but this does depend on what you need and the session settings on the  multi step form definition)

Depending on what your multi step does, if all you need to do is show something readonly you may be able to put together a form with subgrids, or put it all together using Liquid and FetchXML.

    Hi @saudali_25 ,

Thank you for your response. I have tried to replicate the steps that you mentioned but it takes me to the same multistep form and users can edit it. As @Fubar mentioned, if I want to show the same form in the edit mode, I might need to create another multistep form with the steps as read only but I will be too much hassle.

Is there any other way to use the same multistep form as read only which I used an insert/edit?

    Kind Regards,

    Hafiz
