Hi Experts,
I have one requirement where I need to create a QR Code and use that QR code for scanning.
Is that Possible in the portal?
Thanks,
Amit
you have a few options
there are a few PCF controls that generate a QR Code (haven't tried myself):
https://pcf.gallery/qr-code-generator/
https://pcf.gallery/qr-code/
but I am not sure if those save the QR code against the record, what you need is to make sure the QR Code is generate as a note against your record, so you can display in the Portal
next option is using Flow/PowerAutomate to generate the QR Code:

make sure to save the generated QR Code as a note against your record

Hi @OliverRodrigues
I will have a look into both of the options but suppose if I manage to generate the QR code and also able to save the QR code against the record. But how I can give the user an option to scan the QR code of other users and fetch the records accordingly?
Basically is there any way to give the user an option to scan the QR code?
Please suggest any solution because that lead me to take some decisions.
Can you explain a bit more of your requirement on "Read the QR Code"?
will the portals be used in a mobile device and users will be reading QR Code and performing actions? if so what's in the QR Code you are planning to read? would it be just an URL?
or will the users upload a file that you want to read/process in your system?
Hi @Anonymous ,
haven't tried personally in portals but there are some javascriptlibraries to generate qr-code, this one for example: https://davidshimjs.github.io/qrcodejs/ so, the generation should be possible with some javescript on a page.
I also found a library which claims that it can read via html5 and the camera: https://github.com/schmich/instascan . Did not check, but may be this kind of javascript could help in this scenario.
As i have frequent requests for scanning qrcodes for the portal i should give the latter a try, too 🙂
So the message is: when you can do it in javascript, you can do it in portals 🙂
Have fun,
Christian
Yes, the portal is mainly going to be used in mobile devices. and The QR code will be unique for every user and it will use to identify the user and take the action on the basis of data fetch from different entities related to that user (scanned user).
So, for example, there is an admin team in the office gate and he is going to scan the QR code of each and every person who is entering from the gate and decide to allow or not allow to enter.
Hi @chleverenz
Thanks for sharing the links and I will go through those and will give a try and response back here with any success or not.
