Set metadata from condition step

In a web form, I have a condition step that loads one tab if true and another tab if false. I set a metadata rule to save a value to a field before going to the next step, but that never seems to execute.

Is it possible to save metadata values at a condition step?

I have never tried putting one on a Condition step but I am guessing probably not (as far as I'm aware a condition step just evaluates and directs to a next step it doesn't actually save/update event)

My understanding is the same as @Fubar

May I ask why would you want to do this? if you want it to be done at the condition step, it means you want to set a field value regardless of the condition, so you can actually do in the previous step.

Is there any reason you need it to be at the condition level?
