I want to connect to HighQ API using custom connector which only accepts XML in post request. I am able to connect to the get API requests. Is there a way to handle this scenario using custom connector?

You could refer his solution:

release the external remote access in api server.

Also please check if you have enabled the Remove Server connect functionality for your API Server. Please also check and see if the following article would help in your scenario:
