PowerApps SharePoint Online form owner has lost access

Hi there,

I created a PowerApps form for a SharePoint list many weeks ago using the Customize Forms option on the list. Checking the form today, it seems I don't have access to it anymore. I can't create a new list item, or edit an existing one. When I try any of these options instead of the app I get a screen that says:

This app isn’t opening correctly

It looks like you don’t have access to this app. Ask its owner to share it with you.

When I request access through this screen I get an access request email to my own account.

If I try to open the form using the Customize Forms command, PowerApps studio opens up, it tries to load the form, but I then get an error popup with text similar to the warning above.

I checked my permissions and still have Full Control of the list and the site where it is housed. The only change made to the site between the form working and it stopping working was that I changed the URL of the site.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    @SeanHenderson Amazing, that worked. I was able to delete the hidden redirect site that had the old URL, and change the URL of the affected site back to this old URL. The PowerApp is working again. I think I'll hold off on trying to change the URL of the site again. But if I do change it and I can successfully reconfigure the SharePoint data source to point to the site with the new URL, I will post my results here. Thanks again for all of your help!

    To remove an old site name that is being used for redirects:

    Download SharePoint Online Management Shell at:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35588

    Log in as administrator. Documentation:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powershell/sharepoint/sharepoint-online/connect-sharepoint-online?view=sharepoint-ps

    Run command:

    Remove-SPOSite -Identity https://contoso.sharepoint.com/sites/OldSiteName

    Then you should be able to rename your site back to the old one and get your work back.

    @SeanHenderson  I can't change the URL back to the old one. It says it's unavailable (see attached image). I have read that when you change the URL of a site, SharePoint creates a sort of site at the old URL as a means of redirecting the user to the new URL.

    @Anonymous

    My apologies, I forgot we are talking about Customize Forms, not Create an App.

    Do you still have access to SharePoint admin center? I would suggest trying:

    1) Change the site url back to the old name

    2) Open up the customize form.

    3) With the customize form open in one tab, go back to the SharePoint admin center and change the url again

    4) In the app editor, go into data sources on the left navigation, remove the SharePoint data source on the app, then under Connectors, reconnect to the SharePoint list. It should have refreshed with the new url.

    Bear in mind that when you change a url for a SharePoint site, it might take up to 10 minutes to apply.

    @SeanHenderson Hi again. I did as instructed but the app isn't listed under Apps...

    @Anonymous

    Go to make.powerapps.com and in the top right select the environment that the form is located in. Despite being made from SharePoint, if it is a PowerApps app it will still appear under your list of apps. Go into Apps on the left navigation, select the app and select edit. Then in the editor, change the url of the SharePoint list under data sources.

    @v-xida-msft I changed the URL of the site that hosts the list that has the PowerApp form.

    "Actually, the custom form app URL is based on the SP Site URL, when you changed the SP Site URL, the custom form app would not be applied to the new SP Site URL automatically.Is there a way to change the URL of the site the form app is associated with? OR, is there a way to revert the entire process? I don't want to have to recreate the entire form...

    @SeanHenderson Yes I changed the URL of the SharePoint site (I wasn't aware this feature is apparently still in preview). The app is a form so I never saw it in the powerapp studio, but I could have been looking in the wrong place. Let me see if I can find it in the studio.

    Hi @Anonymous ,

    Do you change the URL of your SP Site?

    I think this issue is related to the change on your SP Site URL. Actually, the custom form app URL is based on the SP Site URL, when you changed the SP Site URL, the custom form app would not be applied to the new SP Site URL automatically.

    As an fixed solution, please consider remove the custom form from your app, then re-add a new custom form app in your SP List, then check if the issue is solved.

    Best regards,

    You changed the url of the SharePoint site? What is the url the app is trying to connect to? Can you open the app from the PowerApps maker portal?
