PowerBI report "variant complexity"

Posted on by 11

Hi,

I have integrated PAPM with PowerBI and have published a report to a workspace.

It seems that having the report in PowerBI allows more flexibility in visualisations and data manipulation - which is great - but I am confused by how the process map functions. It seems that the 'Activities' and 'Paths' sliders from the Desktop App have been replaced by a single 'Variant Complexity' slider. I am not exactly sure of the logic behind it, but it seems to leave a huge number of paths/edges visible even when scaled to 1%.

Is there anyway to control the path visibility like in the Desktop App? Generally, it seems that a lot of useful functionality and features are split between PowerBI integration and the Desktop App, meaning that one would need to do a lot of switching back and forth the get the most out of PAPM.

    PowerBI report "variant complexity"
    Hi Sam6,

    our understanding is following:
PAPM desktop is part of the solution specialized in analysis.
Power BI is part of the solution specialized in BI reporting.

Yes, we also miss some of the functionalities of the desktop in the Power BI. Let's see when these will be available in PowerBI.

Based on the end-users and the intended utilization, we need to be either using both parts of the solution, or just Power BI.
