Differentiation to PowerApps Portals and Future of PowerApps Portals

Hi,

I am a little bit lost, how exactly Power Pages relate to PowerApps Portals. Obviously both products have quite some overlaps.

Blog Articles are kinda "recycled" from the Portals blog: https://powerpages.microsoft.com/de-de/blog/announcing-general-availability-ga-of-microsoft-dataverse-search-integration-with-microsoft-power-pages/

Will they exist in parallel? Is Power Pages the future?

Is there some additional insight that you can share?

Cheers

Edit: Nvm, I've just seen this very page: https://docs.microsoft.com/de-de/power-pages/difference-portals

I read it as: Power Apps Portals will be deprecated in the future, but all Portals will be migrated to Power Pages.

hi @Anonymous, the way I see this is literally an evolution, and that's how I describe in my post: http://oliverrodrigues365.com/2022/05/24/power-pages-power-apps-portals-is-now-power-pages/

If you already have a Portals, there is nothing to worry, Power Pages is a natural evolution and there is nothing to be concerned in terms of compatibility or anything, under the hood they are the same product.

The idea behind Power Pages is to add more focus and attention to the product, instead of being part of the Power Apps, this is now one level above, being its own product within the Power Platform.

Only potential migration that I see here, is about the domain, but this is not yet clear as to how Microsoft will approach it.

    Hi @Anonymous

Great post from @OliverRodrigues, just adding my two cents about CDN capability .

In the MS Build session today, there is a CDN capability introduced for portals.  Link below for reference

    https://powerpages.microsoft.com/en-au/blog/deliver-your-content-faster-with-availability-of-content-delivery-network-integration-with-microsoft-power-pages/

This will make the power pages loading time faster by 30%.

All other Custom domain features are included now with CDN

    • Enable CDN for websites configured with custom domain names

    Hope it helps.

At this time, from a developer, architect or engineer perspective, Dynamics 365 Portals, Power Apps Portals, and Power Pages are the same exact same technical product. They are always evolving just like all Power Platform products.

From a technical perspective, at this time it's a name change. This is product development and licensing, not engineering. If you can't find a portal feature in Pages then simply go back to the Portal Management utility.

That said, this is an exciting step forward in the evolution of portals and pages! 🙂

This CDN feature should work in Dynamics Portals, Power Apps Portals, and by extension Power Pages.
