PowerApps Portal : Entity List creation in Portal Management App is not allowing developers to choose "portal user attribute" and order by fields on secondary entity relation fields

Hi All,

Entity List creation in Portal Management App is not allowing developers to choose "portal user attribute" and order by fields on secondary entity relation fields

Scenario:

We have a requirement on process flow where at each stage multiple stakeholders can act on the same request/record, so we have created two entities A (Parent Entity) & B (Child Entity) as 1: N relationship. The request details are maintained in the parent entity and stakeholder details are maintained in the child entity at the CRM back-end.

To display the records based on the logged-In user, we have used the filter "Portal User Attribute" on the child entity field (where we maintained all the stakeholder details) and displayed in the table/grid.

But the parent entity record will always have the latest updated fields on each stage/status change. As we used the child entity as the primary entity for the above scenario we are not getting options in Portal Management App -> Entity list to sort order by modified field of Parent entity fields.

Please suggest if you have any solution on the same or else Power Apps Portal community should consider this scenario to make it more flexible to the developer in the upcoming releases.

Thanks

Shankar B

    Hi

I think instead of using the Attribute Filters, you should be using Entity Permissions

you can set parent/child entity permissions, and enable the entity list for permissions, this way it will automatically filter by the logged in user

it doesn't really matter where your lookup for contact is (as long as you have one).. if it is in Entity A, create the entity permission for Entity A and link to the contact lookup, then create another entity permission for Entity B, and set scope to Parent, setting the lookup for Entity A (this will automatically filter by contact lookup on the parent permission)

make sure to assign the parent entity permission to the Authenticated Web Role

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/portals/configure/assign-entity-permissions

    Hi @shankarbheem ,

Do you want to sort records in your Child Entity based on the Modified field in Parent entity?

If you want to sort records in your Child Entity based on the Modified field in Parent entity, I afraid that there is no way to achieve your needs in PowerApps currently.

Currently, there is no option supported in Entity List of Power Apps Portal to configure sorting records in your Child Entity based on the Modified field in Parent entity.

If you would like this feature to be added in PowerApps Portal, please submit an idea to PowerApps Ideas Forum:

    Best regards,
