How does FetchXML filter in Portal Management List work?

Hi,

I am wondering how the FetchXML filter works on the filter section of a list in the portal management. I am specifically looking for an example to be able to wrap my head around this. I have written fetchXML before but I'm mainly looking on getting started in this context.

Update 1:

I kept scouring the web and actually found what I was looking for from one of your old posts. However this seems very restrictive. Is there a way to dynamically grab the filter criteria from another table or through some sort of variable instead of having to hardcode it here?

Hi, I wrote an article some time ago that might help: http://oliverrodrigues365.com/2020/04/26/power-apps-portals-entity-list-conditional-action/

    Hi Oliver,

Thank you very much for the quick response and your article was very helpful as well. I will definitely be able to use it in the future.

I am actually talking about filtering the entity list in a List. I believe your article refers to the fetchXML filter. under the "Options" tab and in the grid configuration. I'm talking about the fetchXML filter under the "General" tab and in the metadata filter. One of the options is to use fetchXML. I'm actually having trouble saving the fetchXML. Seems like if I try to add a fetchXML filter, save it, close the window and go back to it, it's gone.

    Hi @gospa

If you want to pass dynamic filter content, you can use liquid objects or Javascript to achieve this.

    Hope it helps.

    Hi @ragavanrajan

I have attempted to use available liquid objects into the fetchxml metadata filter but to no luck. I'm not aware how to inject javascript variables into this pane, is that even possible?

When I try to apply it, it obviously would throw an error.
