Inviting exiting CRM contact to create account and login to Power Pages Portal - getting message: The Email [email] is already taken

We are creating a portal for external users, and would like to have them login with Azure B2C.

The people we are inviting are Contacts in CRM, so there email is already in CRM.

The person is able to login to AzureB2C, but when they get to the portal, on the "Register your external account" page,  and enter their email, they get the message "The Email [email] is already taken"

It seems that the Portal is expecting to create a new contact for the new Portal user, but we want existing contacts to be able to register for the portal.

Hope this makes sense. Any help is appreciated.

    Hi @Xv

You can enable/create the Site Setting.

    Authentication/[Protocol]/[Provider]/AllowContactMappingWithEmail

    official link here

Keep in mind that If there is no contact, a new contact will be created when the registration setting is turned on.

    Authentication/Registration/OpenRegistrationEnabled

Set to true would be required.

    Hope it helps.

Thank you! Will test this out and respond here.
For AzureB2C, could you give sample values for [protocol] and [provider]?
