Power Apps Portal Licensing

Hi Folks,

I have a Dynamic 365 CE License, I want to create 2 Power apps Customer Self Service portals in my UAT / Dev Environment,

My Production Environment Already has an old D365 Portal.

Questions.

  1. Do I need to Buy Capacity based License for all the 3 portals (Dev/UAT Portals will only be used by internal users) ?
  2. If not How do I assign the License to my Production environment only ?
  3. Is the License assigned to any user. or just the portal only ?
  4. Will the Capacity based license change have any impact on my dataverse environment configurations (Quickbook Integrations etc. ..) ?
  5. Do portals consume or need any storage capacity ?

Thanks and Regards,

Vidit.

    Generally refer to the PowerApps Licencing Guide link is on this page https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/pricing-billing-skus

    PowerApps Portal Storage Usage

    • From the PowerApps Licencing Guide: Power Apps Portals instances can be provisioned by customers on-demand. Provisioning a portals instance draws 1GB from available (unused) Dataverse database capacity. Thus, provisioning additional portals instances is only capped by available Dataverse database capacity;
    • The Web Pages and Data etc live in DataVerse so adding new records etc also consume your database capacity etc

    Capacity Allocation

    Regarding capacity addons and allocating see the following https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/admin/capacity-add-on#view-capacity-add-ons-in-power-platform-admin-center

    Internal Users

    Are licenced via a Power Apps per app, or  Power Apps per user, or Select D365 licenses (the details are in the Licencing Guide for PowerApps and Dynamics 365)
