Community Portal setup

Dear Power Apps community...I am very very new to Dynamics and need some help please. Apologies in advance if I'm not posting to the correct forum.

I'll describe as best I can...you may need screenshots from me - let me know? Ok...here goes....

  • I have just joined a new company who have just implemented Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Service Hub, mainly for their Service Desk and soon for a customer-facing support portal. My sole focus is to introduce the new Community app into that portal. I have a Sandbox environment that I'm playing with where the Customer Service Hub and Community apps have been installed. I am trying to follow the instructions here :
  • I am stuck on step #6 where it says to substitute the <name> component of the portal url with the name of my Community portal, which is called "Community Portal - community-sandbox" - but it doesn't like it. Maybe I am not understanding what <name> means and entering the wrong parameter? Basically I currently have a complete disconnect between the dummy Community portal I have created in rich client Dynamics, and the actual portal UI that I want my customers to see. I am trying to mimic a complete business-to-customer-and back to business test. The only portal I seem to be able to get to is the standard dummy demo Microsoft one - https://community-sandbox.powerappsportals.com/
  • That is basically it for now. I can't get past the first hurdle to even start playing around with the Community app, after which I am certain I will have more questions! The Microsoft literature for Community (link above) seems a bit thin on the ground in terms of deep-dive setup & admin detail.

    Thank you All!

    Hi @TonyG22

Make sure you have installed the "Dynamics 365 Customer Service Community" App in the proper environment.  You can see the confirmation in the Power Platform Admin center like below

    Solution:

Once it is installed, then follow the official docs to get your "Modern Community" portal creation.

    1. Go to  https://make.powerapps.com/

    2. Choose the correct environment where you have installed the "Community service App"

    3. Click Create > under the start from template > You can see modern community template

    4.  Then provide the necessary details.

Note: While choosing a naming convention:  Keep it as simple as possible. EX: SandboxRR. Later you can change the Title of the portal in the web page design.

    Hope it helps.

Thank you so much for replying Ragavan...really appreciate it. Problem is that I may not have access to what you have described...this is all I have access to?

    No Worries @TonyG22

You can spin up your dev environment for free. Adding official link below

Once your environment is ready then follow your first docs.

    Have fun.

    Hope it helps.
