Updating a list

I have created a list which is populated when a service request form is submitted. Someone goes and approves the request. When the statust of approval changes to approved I want to move the item to another list which I have also created (duplicate of first list with some fields left out and renamed). I have created a flow that does this. The problem is everytime an item is approved it updates the whole list and creates duplicate

How can I make it so that only the current approval is moved. I am fairly new to PowerAutomate and not too good with Expressions at all and I dont understand how they work really

I need help please

@LinBee2005 The issue is with the Get Items action in your flow. This action returns an array of items. You need to use the Get Item (singular) action.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi
This is the flow I created. Whenever I change the decision to Approve the list is updated to include previously approved items and thus creating duplicates

@LinBee2005It's hard to offer specific recommendations without seeing your full flow and the logic behind it. If you are using the new designer, toggle it off and click each action to expand it. Upload a screenshot of your flow in edit mode.

In the meantime it sounds like you may have an automated trigger set up for your flow. It's always best practice to ensure your automated flow trigger has trigger conditions set up to prevent it from triggering unnecessarily. I'm assuming you are using the When an item is created/modified trigger. In that case, your flow will trigger every time a new item is created or modified. Instead, you can add a trigger condition to only trigger when your item's status changes to approved.

To learn more about trigger conditions, refer to this YT Tutorial:
If you are using an Automated Cloud flow trigger in your flow—you need to consider adding trigger conditions.
Do YOU 🫵 know what a trigger condition is?

Trigger conditions can be set in most flow triggers. These conditions you set must be true for the trigger to fire.
In this Power Automate tutorial, I’m going to show you how to use trigger conditions in your flows to control when your Power Automate flows trigger. If your plan has flow run limits—you can avoid triggering your flows unnecessarily by using trigger conditions.

I’ll cover four different flow examples that would benefit from trigger conditions:
⚡️ Triggering a flow when a column is changed to a specific value
⚡️ Triggering a Flow When an Event Updated or Deleted
⚡️ Triggering a Flow When a New Folder is Created
⚡️ Triggering a Flow When a Specific Email is Received

I’ll also show you a trick on how to easily create the expressions needed and give you a few tips on how to troubleshoot your flow.
