I have a requirement to create related records to an entity in CDS. The related entity form pops up on a button action. I need some of the data to be pre-populated in the create entity form from the "base" form.
What would be the best way to achieve this?
I hope this is a explanation to my requirement.

do I understand you correct that you have to forms on one side and a button which shows/hides one of those forms?
Which form do you want to populate with which information?
Depending on the answer there are a couple of options you could use.
