Unable to rename an item in main navigation with "special" characters?

Is it not possible to change an item title in the navigation bar to include characters other than letters, numbers, hyphens, or underscores?

Suppose you have a page called "This" but you want it to show as "This & That", or "This / That", in the menu... how can we do this?

Yes you can use & and / .

Make sure that after you have changed it that you are syncing (or manually clearing the Portal Cache) otherwise your changes will not push straight up to the portal.

Work out what is being displayed where

    • Web Link Sets will contain the menu items and you may need to update these
    • On the Page itself you may need to check what the Web Template that is being used is using, some out of the box ones may just be using the Page Content (with hard coded headings) in which case you would need to add the HTML & etc, others may be using the page title via a liquid page.title tag  https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-apps/maker/portals/liquid/liquid-objects#page

Both the Web Link and Page Title will accept and output & and /

What an unbelievably mind-numbing user experience - and a complete waste of my time.

For those of you who fall into this trap -
    1. You won't be able to set the Name of a page to include 'special' characters when you create the page in the Power Pages interface.

    2. If you dig into the Portal Management and find your Page in the Web Link Sets section ('Default' item > Links), changing the Name of the link in question will consistently fail. One would expect that changing the Name would be what you should do to change the Name of the navigation item - but this is a red-herring as it will always change back to the Name of the Page itself.

    3. In order to actually change the Navigation Menu Item name, you must go into Portal Management > Web Pages, and change the Name of the web page itself.

    Painfully unintuitive.
