Power Pages as an option

Hello

We are a municipal organization and have a public website that residents can access business documents anonymously via a connection to File Nexus. These business documents will be migrated to Sharepoint which creates a problem because the public website cannot connect to Sharepoint. I saw Power Pages and wondering if it would require a rewrite of the site pages to facilitate anonymous access to these business documents. Power Pages is one option in mind while the other option would be to obtain an API to facilitate the integration.

Hi @Waxy,

I would say it depends a lot on what your current page is set up on. Power Pages can give you the needed sharepoint integration and the desired actions can be done. If you are able to copy paste most of your functionality Power Pages would also be an option which is quiet fast to set up. Just keep in mind that you need licenses for developing and that dataverse would become your new backend. If you have accounts connected to your page you would need to make a data migration which could take some time.

The other option would be your API. Maybe you could go or start with something like that: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/dev/sp-add-ins/complete-basic-operations-using-sharepoint-rest-endpoints

My conclusion would be, if you will migrate to the power platform anyways, I would probably go with Power Pages. If that's not the plan I would start with the API.

Thanks for the reply we are entertaining the API option as Power Pages does come with a hefty price point.
