How to convert Trial Portal in Default Environment to Production in Developer Tenant

I've been working on a client POC for a few weeks and have not received access to production environment. I need to keep the Portal editable for at least another month but the required licensing is confusing.

  • Working in Dev Tenant (VS Subscription Benefit)
  • Portal trial created in the Default Environment
  • Need to keep the Portal POC for at least another month.

What is the minimum level of licensing needed to convert my Portal trial to production in my Dev Tenant?

    Hi @rmAtInsight ,

Do you want to convert your trial portal to production portal?

Firstly, since portal's data source is CDS, so you need at least per app plan/ per user plan/ dynamics license.

Secondly, could you tell me which environment that this portal is in?

1)If it is in default environment, then it is already a portal environment.

Then you need  license for external users, or a license for internal users.

2)If it is not a default environment, then you need  to do:

1/ convert your environment to  a production environment, to convert trial environment to production, you need to have 1GB of available database capacity.

To check your talent's rest of storage: https://admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com/

If the storage is not enough, you could buy add-on storage for CDS.

2/ the environment should have required add-ons for external users, or a license for internal users.

Thirdly, this is the table for licenses of external users, internal users

User type Model SKU names Unit capacity Price/month Channel Comments
External user (authenticated) Per login Power Apps portals login capacity add-on 100 logins $200 All A login provides the authenticated user with access to a single portal for up to 24 hours
Power Apps portals login capacity add-on Tier 2 1000 logins $1000 All
Power Apps portals login capacity add-on Tier 2 5000 logins $3500 CSP only
External user (anonymous) Per page view Power Apps portals page view capacity add-on 100,000 page views $100 All
Internal user Via license Dynamics 365 (various) n/a n/a n/a Custom portal use rights are aligned with custom app use rights
        Power Apps per app plan
        Power Apps per user plan

    Best regards,

Yes I am working in the default environment of my dev tenant and I only need licensing for internal users.

It looks like I would only need "Power Apps per app plan" or "Power Apps per user plan" licensing, as well as storage if I don't already have enough.

    Hi @rmAtInsight ,

Yes, to have  licenses of  internal users, you could choose license from:

Dynamics 365 (various) license, per app plan, per user plan.

If your CDS needs more storage, you could also buy add-on storage for your environment.

Do you have any other problems?

If not, could you mark my answer as your solution?

    Thanks!
