Portal Email Confirmation does not send any emails

I'm wondering why the portal email confirmation does not send any emails at all and the user profile perpetually has the confirm email notification. This is an issue in multiple of our environments that different dev teams are working on. We have not modified that component and we assume that this should work OOTB. Is there a setup we are missing.

Here is the workflow:

Make sure that the Sender is set to a User or Queue whose mailbox in Dataverse/Dynamics 365 has been configured and authorized to send emails.

The sender email is currently set to:

    Owner(Contact)

Should I change this? How can I figure out where this value derives from and set the value there? I would rather not hard-code an email address on that workflow field.

Record ownership exists for Tables that when they were created were set to User/Team (other option is Organization - once the Table is created it cannot be changed), most out of the box Tables will be User/Team and in most cases you want them to be User/Team. The Portal User in Dataverse is a Contact record (an out of the box table).  By default for User/Team tables the person that creates the record will default to being the owner (but this can be changes to another user or a team).

At the moment it will send the email from the internal user that is the owner of the contact record (if this happens to be SYSTEM it also will not send).  If you keep it at its default value you need to make sure that the owner of the contact records is always a User (not a Team) and able to send emails - this means that every user that will own those records will need to have an approved dataverse mailbox (or the dataverse email settings have been set so approval is not needed).  An alternative to this is to setup a Queue and enable the Queue for Email (and approve it) and then set the sender to that queue or create another user and treat it as a service account and use it to send (personally I prefer to use a queue).

Hi There are a few posts about confirmation emails but this one seems the closest the the issue I'm getting with a new Power Pages site I'm working on.
I'm not having a great time trying to get user authentication to work so tried the user register approach to see what happens.
    Prompt on the site.

This triggers an email to IT support to approve the request.
On approval this add my record to the Contact table and on return the site prompts me to update my contact information and confirm my email.

On clicking confirm email I go to this screen

Over 2 hours later I haven't received an email.

However, the email details are recorded against my record in the Contacts table.

Any idea how to resolve the blockage?

    Thanks in advance.
