Accounts and Contacts in Default Environment

Hi there,

I'm planning on creating a new Power Pages site for authenticated users. I read somewhere that I shouldn't create the site in the default environment. That makes sense. But I am already utilizing the Account and Contact tables in the default environment for another model-driven app. Will a site in a new environment be able to communicate with contacts in the default environment for authentication and content filtering purposes?

If no, what are my options?

Thanks for any help,

Gil

Not a straight forward question to answer, as it depends on your business requirements.

Generally, you would probably put the Power Page in the same environment as the Contacts.

Thank you @Fubar for your answer. I accept the general advice.

Let's assume my accounts and contacts live in a production environment A, together with a model driven app that uses them. And now I want to create a Power Pages site.

Should I create the Power Pages site in environment A, so the site can utilize all existing accounts and contacts, or should I create the Power Pages site in a new environment B, so it will have its own dedicated environment, and then duplicate all accounts and contacts? Eventually, I do need to use these accounts and contacts for both the existing model-driven app and the soon-to-be-created Power Pages site.

    Thanks again,

    Gil.

General advice would to not use the "default" environment for any apps at all.

Power Pages is tightly bound to the environment it is installed in any native functionality will only work with the environment it is installed in.
