How to allow Portal user to view file

I cannot seem to figure out how to allow a portal user to view a file pertaining to them. A lot of the resources talk about allowing them to upload files but not much about how to view them inside the Portal.

Thank you for the help @ragavanrajan ,

If I created a note and attached a file to the note, would that appear in the portal?

    Hi @ChrisPBacon

Fyi. The file column is not yet supported in the portal. There was a recent post in this forum if you need more clarity.

Bare with me, I almost got this and think I am getting it.

I created a table with a file column. I then created the form for that table and the view I would like to use. I added the list component to the portal page and added a couple of records to test it out. The records do show up as read-only when I click View Details but the file does not show up nor does it download to local.

    Hi @ChrisPBacon

You can create a form using the portal management app. Though it is not directly related you may get an idea of how to create the forms in the below link

For a List you can have an Edit Form and/or a Details Form (or no Forms if you just want to display a list you do not need to enable any forms).  For the Details Form in its actual form definition it could also be an Edit form (or readonly etc), however on the List it has a special behavior in that when a Detail Form is specified the first column in the List becomes a link and clicking that link opens the Detail Form.

Note: you can also use the Portal Management App where functionality in the Designer is not fully defined.

The area that I am stuck in is that when I toggle 'View Details" to on, it makes me select a form to continue. Is there a way around this?

    Hi @ChrisPBacon

Doesn't matter. It can be any table.

    Hi @ChrisPBacon

you can simply use the list component and assuming if you have notes attached to the record. When you click on view details, you can get the below view.

If you click on the file name it will be downloaded to your local and using your file viewer you can view it.

If you want to view the file within the portal without downloading it, we need to build a PCF component. There are some third-party plugins available but we can always build our own.
