How to add the Notes tab to the Web Files Content area in Power Pages Management

After successfully creating a new environment, and a new solution, when I attempt to go into the Power Pages Management area, and go to the Web Files area, there is no Notes Tab.  There are many articles online that talk about adding attachments to basic and multi-step forms.  But I can't find a single article online that talks about "How to" enable Notes tab to the "Web Files" area.

What are the detailed steps to setup this up so that Notes are available when we create a new Web File?

@kensley enabling the Notes tab in the Web Files area of Power Pages Management involves configuring the entity associated with the web file. Here are the detailed steps to set it up:

    1. Open Solution: Navigate to your environment and open the solution where you want to enable the Notes tab.
    2. Open Entity: Locate the entity associated with the web file you want to add notes to. This is typically the “Web File” entity.
    3. Edit Entity Form: Open the form associated with the entity. In this case, it would be the form used for creating or editing web files.
    4. Add Notes Control: Edit the form and add the “Notes” control to the form. You can find the Notes control under the Controls section in the form designer.
    5. Configure Notes Control: Once added, configure the Notes control as desired. You can set properties such as the label, visibility, and behavior of the Notes control.
    6. Save and Publish: After configuring the Notes control, save and publish the changes to the form.
    7. Test: Finally, navigate to the Power Pages Management area and open the Web Files section. You should now see the Notes tab available when creating or editing web files.

Please note, there are 2 different flavors of Sites at the moment, they use different data structures behind the scenes:

    • Enhanced model, using the Power Pages Management App, The form used for Web Files in the Power Pages Management app does not have Notes - instead it has a Files field on the form, and you use this field to put your file in (save the form to enable the field, then upload file).
    • non-Enhanced model, using the Portal Management App: The form used for Web Files in Portal Management App makes use of the Notes (save the form to enable the related records and Notes).

Both these forms should already exist and have either Files field or Notes configured on them as appropriate for Enhanced/non-enhanced.
