Automating an email based on condition in list - condition always comes back false

Hi All,

I'm trying to set up an automation for an email to be sent when an item in a list meets a specific condition. My flow keeps coming back "successful" but the condition is always showing as 'false' even when it should be true - so no emails are being sent.

Here's the flow:

And the condition:

With the dynamic content referencing this list:

In the 'Condition' window, I've tried putting "Closed Inventory" in quotations, double checking that the box is checked (even though it won't stay checked. I've tried editing the list so the option in that column is only one word: Closed - but the result is the same - successful flow, condition: false.

Please help!

    Hi,

I tried changing the condition as you said to "Event Type Value", and the resulting test still came out as 'false', so no emails were sent.

Can you try the following (assuming Event Type is a Choice column in your List). Note that you shouldn't use Event Type, but rather Event Type Value.

    Hi @trice602

I'm not sure what you mean by "checking the output of the get items"

I've tried changing the condition to say contains, but it says "InvalidTemplate. Unable to process template language expressions for action 'Condition' at line '0' and column '0': 'The template language function 'contains' expects its first argument 'collection' to be a dictionary (object), an array or a string. The provided value is of type 'Null'.'."

I've tried changing the column type to a lookup, and just single line text and typed in the value. All are returning successful flow, condition false (if I use the equal to condition), and the above error (if I use the contains condition).

    Hi @sdaniel4219 ,

I believe the ancillary issue is the column is a choice column.  Please check the output of the get items action and see what it says.  You can probably solve this by changing the condition to say "contains" vs. "equal to".  Please let me know!

    Hi,

Great catch! Unfortunately, once I made the correction, and tested the flow, I got the same result: successful flow, condition: false.

    Hi @sdaniel4219 ,

Great job on this flow!  Looks great!  The root cause is a minor typo in the condition; and don't worry, it is common and happens to all of us.

Your list contains the words "Close Inventory" vs "Closed Inventory".  Please change your condition to match the list, save, rerun a failed run and you are good to go!
