I am a little confused on what power i should be using.

I  have powerpages

then i have powerapps, and from their canvas, data-model, portal.

Situation:  I want a app/site where group A  can  login and offer service, prices,  availabity

and group B  can signup and  search for services that group A is offering, based up

price,  services etc

So what do i want too use to build this type of site.  Can i do it in powerpages alone?

Can  I do it in power apps alone?  What powerapp  subsection should i be using

Do i need both?

    Hello @Marcsiegel,

it depends a bit on where your client groups come from.

Are both groups internally and internally only? Then you can use a canvas app for your problem.

Is group A internally and group B externally? Better use a PowerPage.

For some examples on what you can achieve with PowerApps only: https://acuvate.com/blog/microsoft-powerapps-use-cases-examples/

Keep in mind that PowerPages are coming with some additional costs.

If you can specify what you need, I may can help you even more.

    As per Lucas it depends

    • Model Driven apps tend to be for Internal Users (but Guest users in your Azure Active Directory can also be given Access)
    • Canvas App tend to be for Internal Users
    • Power Pages tend to be for External Users, but can also be for Internal Users.

One of the Big differences is that Canvas Apps can easily use other/multiple data sources whereas Model Driven and PowerPages are tightly bound to DataVerse.

In certain situations you may have all 3 e.g. a Model Driven App for internal admin staff, a Canvas App for internal day to day users, and Power Pages for external users with all updating DataVerse.

At the end of the day they are 3 different technologies that can talk to DataVerse, and so sometimes the decision may also come down to what skill sets you have available.

It depends on what is the definition of internal and external.

If we define External as anyone on the web.  Then its not external.

The way it will work is that both Group A and Group B,  would have to sign up to use the site.

They both  would have to be vetted to make sure they are who they say they are.

But some random person on the internet would not be able to use the site.

At the same time if we define internal as those who We hire directly  then its not an internal useage.

    So for example.

You had a flood in your house, and you call for an insurance apprisal.  The insurance agent can quickly log onto our site and find somone to come out and look at the damage.

But you would not be able to log into the site and see what insurance adjustors we are working with.

    (this is just an example)

    Hi @Marcsiegel

The two best responses were already given by @Fubar @Lucas001. From your latest response, I can gather, assuming it is an insurance claim or any relevant sort you are designing better to go with Power Pages.

Also, a site is more accessible, compatible and discoverable.  Sharing and linking are easy when compared to an app.

    Hope it helps.

    HI @Marcsiegel,

if you want to achieve something like you did, I would assume you have the client list available. In that case you can use a power page and invitation codes. That way you would only have the accounts you really want to have. And as you are handing out the codes, you can keep track of the sent invitations.
