One Drive - Email Folder Link

I'm coming over from Google Drive and I have a script I use to send out updates to clients and would like to recreate within Power Automate. Here's how the Google Apps Script currently works:

  • Checks a specific folder path for new folders within
  • Validates if the folders were modified within the last 6 hours
  • Sends an email to specified email addresses with a default message and links to all of the modified folders in list form. The list displays the folder title with the link embedded within the title.
  • I currently just trigger this manually as I make changes or add folders but would like to have it run automatically if possible.

I'm utilizing One Drive as my new storage platform.

I've tried a couple things but haven't quite gotten it to work correctly.

    Hi @clintonwesley,

You are right, only grant access for a folder in OneDrive is not supported. So your requirement couldn't be achieved.

Thank you for considering using power automate, we will always improve our products to meet the needs of more users.

    Hello @v-litu-msft !

Thanks for your insight. Unfortunately I don't think we're on the same page here. I'm looking to create a share link to the folder not the file within, hence the "Is Folder?" condition. I'm typically uploading 40-150 or more files into a folder at a time and I don't want my client to receive an  email for each file. Instead I'd like them to receive one email with the link to the folder, or folders, containing those files.

I'm finding that this is likely not possible as most things function on  files not folders even though Power Automate can access the Path information it ends up defaulting to the file instead. I'll likely need to do things manually until MSFT develops power automate further.

    Hi @clintonwesley,

It's not recommended that create this Flow from template cause some triggers and actions are old versions.

You could refer to the following screenshot to create a simple Flow when a file is created in a folder generate a link could access directly:

I'm building off of the template flow "Send an email when a new file is added to OneDrive for Business"

It seems that adding the condition module and selecting "Is folder?" should allow the flow to validate folders being adding to the target folder established in "When a file is created" but alas the flow just hangs.Screen Shot 2020-10-13 at 3.04.18 PM.png

I'm not as concerned modified or age as it is in my Google Script, I'd first like to get the recognition of the folder being created working first.
