I have a question about the Contact form within the portal management app. The full name consists of op ‘First name’, ‘Middle Name’ and ‘Last name’. While editing the form in the form editor all three fields are visible.
But in the Form the middle name is not there:
Can anyone explain this to me? Its' not hidden...
@Fubar I see what you mean, its a setting under advanced settings >> System >> Administration >> System Settings >> General Tab >> Set the full-name format.
Thanks!
Based on your last screen shot what you are looking at is actually the "Full Name" column - this is a composite column that has special behavior. There is a Admin setting in dataverse where you can tell it (from a dropdown) what will comprise Full Name, if that is set to just First and Last then that is all that will be displayed in your Apps when using Full Name. Even if you want the Middle Name it is not always desirable to change the Full Name setting (as it will include the Middle name when ever you use the full name e.g. in Lookups and views etc), if that is the case you can put each field (First, Middle, Last) on the form separately.
Hi @Fubar, actually what I did is I opened the Portal management app in the editor (select > edit ) then at the level of the form I clicked edit again.
Then I got into the form editor and as you can see I can see the middle name while the form is also NOT hidden.
On the sufrace it looks like you are looking at a different forms.
If you look at your second form you will see there is a form selector just to the right of "Contact - Add Bank rep" - this is because you have multiple forms inside that App that you have Security Permissions to and the one you currently have selected is "Add Bank rep". In your first screen shot there is no Form Selector as only one form that you have permissions to is included in that App.
Various options exist depending on what outcome you need
In the Designer itself you can mark field on the form as not visible, and there is a 'toggle' in the bottom bar of the designer that in the Designer will show hidden fields (or hide them based on the toggle) - but a hidden field in the designer will not be visible in the Model Driven App form unless you unhide it (in the designer or via a business rule or javascript).
