How to Use Power BI for Limo Rental Prices?

I’m working on a project for a Limo Rental Prices Miami Beach business. I want to use Power BI to:

  • Track pricing trends based on demand and season.
  • Create a dashboard to see booking data and peak times.
  • Combine data from Excel and booking software for insights.

I’m facing some issues:

  • Connecting data from different sources.
  • Setting up filters to compare weekday vs. weekend prices.
  • Finding the best way to calculate the best prices.

Has anyone done something like this before? Any tips or ideas would help. Thanks!

    pls try the following:

    Use a star schema for your data model to improve performance.
    Split data into fact tables (e.g., bookings) and dimension tables (e.g., customers, time).

    • Step 1: Connect Data Sources: Use Power BI Desktop to connect to your data: For Excel: Use the Excel Connector. For booking software: Check if it has a native connector in Power BI (e.g., APIs or databases like SQL). If not, export data to Excel or CSV and import it. If using different schemas, use Power Query to clean and transform the data.
    • Step 2: Combine Data: In Power Query, merge data from both sources: Use a common field like Booking ID or Customer Name. If no common field exists, create one manually (e.g., timestamp-based match).
    • Create Time-Based Calculations: Use a Date Table to group data by day, week, month, or season. - Season =
      SWITCH(
          TRUE(),
          MONTH('Date'[Date]) IN {12, 1, 2}, "Winter",
          MONTH('Date'[Date]) IN {3, 4, 5}, "Spring",
          MONTH('Date'[Date]) IN {6, 7, 8}, "Summer",
          MONTH('Date'[Date]) IN {9, 10, 11}, "Fall",
          "Unknown"
      )
    • Use DAX to calculate the average price for bookings: AvgPrice = AVERAGE(Bookings[Price])

    • To visualize bookings and peak times: Charts to Use: Heatmap: For time-based analysis of bookings. X-axis: Hour of the day. Y-axis: Day of the week. Value: Number of bookings. Line Chart: Compare booking trends over time. Bar Chart: Break down bookings by day and season.

    What issues are you having connecting data? If you want to track trends then you should create your own database, capture data and populate your database. What is the source of the data that you need? For websites you can use the RPA functionality of Power Automate desktop to capture the data.
    You need to examine all your sources of data in order to build your data model. When your data model is built you will have a better understanding of how to create your dashboard and reports and insight generation.
