Hello Community,
I have created a PowerApps custom portal. I would like to add a menu on the page so that when user clicks on it, it opens up an external URL website in another browser window. Is there an easy way to achieve this without custom codes? I tried looking into the "web links" and "redirects" features but can't quite get it to work. Am I looking at the right area? This menu could be anywhere on the portal page, ideally in the header area. Or, this menu could be one of the page menus, so that when user clicks on the menu tab, it launches the external website in another separate browser window.
Would greatly appreciate if someone could help providing me with some pointers.
Thank you very much!
Hi @Anonymous ,
I agree with @OOlashyn 's thought almost. The "Web Link" feature could achieve your needs. I have made a test on my side, please consider take a try with the following workaround:
1. Firstly, please make sure which Web Link Set does your Portal Header connect to:
2. Go to your Portal Management, then switch to "Web Link Sets" option. Within the available Web Link Sets list, find the Default Web Link Set and open it.
3. Within the opening "Default" Web Link Set, switch to Links tab, then click "+ New Web Link" button to create a new Web Link
then click "Save" button to save your changes.
4. Go to your PowerApps Portal Editor, click "Sync Configurations" button to make the changes you made in your Portal management take effect, then click "Browser website" button.
then the new Web Link would be acted as Sub Menu under the Services Web Link as below:
More details about Web Link in PowerApps Portal, please check the following link:

If you want to make the new added Web Link to be opened in a New Window tab, please enable the "Open in New Window" option for your new Web Link:
Best regards,
Hi @Anonymous ,
Yes, Web Link is the right place to do it. You can check official docs here. To point web link to external website you just need to specify External URL on it. Also you can check Open in New Window checkbox to open link in a new window.
Web Links are part of the Web Link Set - which is an easy way to group both internal and external links. If you want to add a new web link to your website navigation first thing you need to check what web link set is used for it. To do so you need to go to your website Header web template and search for primary_nav - usually this is a variable name for it (see attached). There you will find the name of the web link set. After that just create a new web link and specify found web link set as a Web Link Set for that link. And that's it - just don't forget to clear the cache of the portal or Sync Configuration via Portal Editor.
