Place logo in Portal header

Hi all,

My current portal does not have a logo on in the header. I have tried a few things but can't seem to figure it out.

- I have created a Webfile called logo.png and attached the logo as an attachment to this webfile.

- I changed Contentsnippet Navbar Left to contain: <p><img src="XXX"></p>

- I changed Webtemplate 'Header' to contain <img src="XXX">.

After renewing the cache from the portal, nothing changed.

I checked the URL of the image and I can reach it without a problem.

Is there anything I might be missing?

Thanks!

Regards,

Robbert

    Hey Robbertoo,

It seems like you have done the steps correctly, but there could be a few things you could check:

    1. Verify the URL in the <img> tag, is it correct and pointing to the right location of the logo.png file?

    2. Check if the logo.png file has the right dimensions and format, as some browsers have restrictions on the size and format of images.

    3. Verify the CSS styles applied to the header, as they might be hiding or overriding the <img> tag.

    4. Try using an absolute URL instead of a relative URL in the <img> tag.

If none of these suggestions help, it would be helpful to see the source code of your portal to determine the issue.

    Hey Karthik,

Apologies for the (very) late response. i checked the things you said. With the last thing, using the direct link instead of a relative url, which gave me the image as a perfect result.

However, I am unsure on how to check what specific CSS file is used by the header. How can I check that? The Power App of the portal tells me that the default CSS files are not used and the ones used can be found in Dyn365. I have 2 CSS files there, but am unsure what to specifically look for.

    Thanks!

    a) confirm you are using the correct Content Snippet (depending on what starting Website template you have used you may find it is using Mobile Header and not Navbar Left).

    b) (this one is more for other people reading this post) similarly depending on what Website template you chose when you setup your portal you may find that it is configured to use a url for the logo already in Navbar Left.

    c) Show your line with the IMG tag including everything in the src=(show the path being used).

    Hey Fubar,

    A) I have honestly put in both Navleft ánd mobile header already and none seem to shop up.

    C) The IMG tag <redacted>

It seems like none of the headers are designed to show up on the template, but that may be a wrong conclusion.

Confirm if the Header is being used:

    • Use the Portal Management app
    • Find the Web Page called Home for your site
    • Open it, and then click on the value in the Page Template field (this will open the Page Template)
    • On the Page Template, see if the "Use Website Header and Footer" field is checked.  If it is you are using the Web Template "Header" for the header - but if it is not checked then it is probably using something else that is in the Web Template that is being used (field on the Page Template)
    • If you are using Header open the Web Template called Header and check for the use of a content snippet for Mobile Header or Navbar Left

Also do things like take out your change, and add some different text in, and always Sync (or manually clear the portal cache <yourportal>/_services/about when signed in as a user with the System Administrator Web Role assigned)after making any changes.

    Hey Fubar,

I followed your detailed plan and came to the following conclusion:

    - The Home-page uses template 'Startpage'.

    - Template 'Startpage' has 'Use Website Header and Footer' checked.

    - Template 'Startpage' uses use template 'Home'. (not needed to know, probably)

    - Content template 'Header' uses both content snippet Mobile Header and Navbar Left.

I tried placing the IMG tag in the header template, without any success. See the attachment..

    In addition.

I disabled all CSS files which changed a lot on the website, obviously, but didn't display a logo. I am getting the feeling that its indeed a configuration issue than a CSS issue, but can't be ruled out ofcourse.

I found out what caused in. In the main settings of the website, it wasn't configured what needed to be used as a header. I declared that and it showed up, after syncing, on the portal.
