Hi all,
Recently my team has created a service account for the power platform. It does what we need it to do for the most part, however we are having trouble testing one thing. We want this service account to basically act as a life raft if a author of a flow or an app leaves our organization. Is there a way to test this?
I tried creating two flows one with a premiumn connector and one without a premiumn connector, shared it with the service account, and then tried to delete myself as an owner. I was not able to delete myself, the option was grayed out.
For context this service account uses a power automate free license.
You'll want to go one step further and add the service account as a co-owner to the flows. That way, if the original owner's account is deactivated the service account can help it continue. To do this successfully, the service account must have licencing that is adequate for the services to be run through the flow, e.g. premium licencing for premium connectors.
One other thing to keep in mind - there are daily limits to the number of flow operations per day that can be run by a single account. If your service account gets in a situation of trying too many runs in a day it may get throttled/limited by the Power Automate service.
Hope that helps,
Bryan
