Getting "We are Sorry, but something went wrong. Please try again and if this persists try contacting the website administrator" whenever a user clicks on the Global Search and enters a text and clicks on search icon.

This does happen only in Production environment and in any of the lower environments I am unable to replicate this issue. This seems strange and as it is in Production I am unable to disable the Custom error page to dig deep into the issue.

This issue is Intermittent and will get resolved automatically when we refresh the portal cache/Sync the portal site. Any help much appreciated.

Note: this is a static site and does not involve any data verse entities and it is a external public site

Hi, I think the first step here is to try to get the real exception behind the error, can you disable the custom errors page?:

    Hi Vinay,

I have come across such error message a million times and found my ways to deal with it.

First thing, you need to understand actual problem behind this error.

My advice to you is to enable diagnostic error logging with the help of Azure Blob storage (documentation: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-pages/admin/view-portal-error-log#access-website-error-logs).

Once you have setup the diagnostic logging, simply provoke the error once again and check for the error log on Azure Blob Storage.

You will find a folder of your website on the storage explorer.

Open the folder and navigate to today’s date and open the latest CSV file.

Open the CSV file and make it readable (e.g. in Microsoft Excel).

Scroll to the very last row in the spreadsheet and check for the detailed error description in the last column.

Let us know here what the error states.

p.s. I have made a video out of it: https://youtu.be/n7kNPV2Gqf0?si=XrerlH0YAJsfHqGx
