I am trying to follow this tutorial, and my Copy File (step 3) fails. When I open the run history, it says, "The destination path cannot be the same as the source object itself." For "If another file is already there" it shows a 2 in the run history. I assume that the 2 is supposed to represent me picking the option "Copy with a new name," but I am not sure if the 2 means that, or if maybe it's a bug.
If I change the the folder, then it fails for step 7, Get File Content. I am very new to this and noticed in the comments on the tutorial that someone else had the exact same issue, but their question is unanswered. Hoping someone more knowledgeable can chime in.
Hi @sarahpoulin ,
The function to copy a file to a same path with the Copy file action is not supported in Microsoft flow currently.
I suggest you could take a try with the create file action.

Ah, ok, thanks. Those were my thoughts exactly, which is why I was asking if perhaps it was a bug. I don't see why it won't allow me if it will rename the file with the same name.
Sorry. I was echoing your concern. It seems like being in the same library shouldn't be an issue if we can account for duplicate filenames. I'm still digging into it, but was hoping Alice had something about that.
I'm not sure I understand your last response.
Seconding that question as the action seems to have a way to account for duplicate filenames? Thanks for the help.
What I'm wondering is, why does the tutorial show the same path? Is it something that Power Automate used to allow but no longer does?
Hi @sarahpoulin ,
It is the expected behavior, as the error message said, we couldn't copy a file with the same source path and the destination path. please modify your flow with a different destination path so the flow would works.

Alice

Hi there. Could you post a screenshot of your current step? and also the results of the run history for that step?
Thanks!
