Display a map from a list

Hi everyone,

I've been trying to display a map from a list on my page, but it doesn't work, as you can see from the screenshot. Here's what I've been doing: my list has the following columns: Description, Zip Code, City, Address, State, Latitude, and Longitude.

In Power Apps management, I've enabled the map option and inserted my API key from Google Maps. In Power Pages, the list is displayed as a list, but on my website page, an error appears, as you can see.

Is there any solution for this?

Thanks!

Thanks for the detailed explanation — based on your setup and the error you're seeing, this issue is likely due to missing or misconfigured map settings in Power Pages, especially when using Google Maps or Bing Maps with geolocation features.

✅ Checklist to Display a Map from a List in Power Pages

    1. Ensure Correct Field Mapping

    Your SharePoint list should have:

    • Latitude and Longitude fields (as Text or Number type).
    • Optional: Address, City, Zip Code, etc., for reverse geocoding or display.

Make sure these fields are correctly mapped in the form or list component you're using.

    2. Use a Form with a Map Section

To display a map in Power Pages:

    • Use a Basic Form (not just a list).
    • Create a section named section_map or ending with _section_map — this is required for the map control to render.
    • Add the required fields: Latitude, Longitude, and optionally Address Line, City, State, etc.

    3. Configure Site Settings for Google Maps

    In Power Pages Admin Center:

    • Go to Site Settings.
    • Add or verify the following settings:
      • GoogleMaps/ApiKey → your actual API key.
      • GoogleMaps/RestURL → optional, defaults to Google Maps REST endpoint.

    Make sure the API key:

    • Is valid and active.
    • Has Maps JavaScript API and Geocoding API enabled in Google Cloud Console.

    4. Check for Errors in Browser Console

Open your site in a browser and press F12 to open Developer Tools:

    • Look for errors related to Google Maps (e.g., “API key invalid” or “Quota exceeded”).
    • This can help pinpoint the issue.

    5. Permissions and Data Visibility

If you're using SharePoint as the data source:

    • Ensure the data is accessible to anonymous users (or use Dataverse instead).
    • Consider importing the list into Dataverse for better integration with Power Pages.

    🛠️ Alternative: Use Bing Maps

If Google Maps continues to cause issues, Power Pages has native support for Bing Maps, and you can:

    • Get a Bing Maps API key from bingmapsportal.com.
    • Configure the site settings:
      • BingMaps/Credentials
      • BingMaps/RestURL (optional)
