Migrating Site from one environment to another

I have used XRMToolbox and the Portal Records Mover to export and import portal configurations from one environment to another. Before doing so, I also moved dataverse tables using solutions.

The Portal Records Mover import function shows a success and the site is created in the new environment as an inactive site -

But on trying to reactivate the site, I get the following error -

Deleting and reactivating does not help as we continue to get the same error. Please let me know how to obtain the detail logs for the error.

    Hi @prathyoo

You are missing the ground rule.

Step 1: You should create a site first.

Step 2: Once the site is ready in the source and target environment

Step 3: Then use the portal record movers and configuration migration tool

    Hope it helps.

Thanks. We already have a source site. How do we create the target site to match the source site. The Portal Record Mover does not seem to have an option to pick a site from the target environment to overwrite.

I created a new blank site in the target environment and renamed the "Name" column of the website record to match the one in the source environment. Then used the Portal Record Mover to import the config to the target environment. But, this caused duplicate entries -

Please let me know the key that is used by the Portal Record Mover to determine the website record.

Through multiple trial and error, I could find a fix -

    1. Create a new site in the target environment. My source site is based on a Blank templates, so used the same template -

    2. This also creates entry in the Portal Admin Center

    3. Next, import the source site using Portal Records Mover -

    4. The imported website record  in our case is called "Site 1 - site-xrgg5"

    5. In the Portal Admin center, switched the website record associated to the site CSO Portal to "Site 1 - site-xrgg5"

    6. This also updated the "Website Bindings" in portal management studio.

    7. Also, the portal design studio started working and showed the config from the source website.

    8. Next, deleted the website record for the site created in Step 1 via the portal management studio.

    9. Next deleted the web template records left hanging after deletion of the website record -

    10. Lastly, deleted the website binding that was created by the import of the source configuration. This is not needed as the binding on the newly created site was mapped to the site that was imported.

Thanks for making it so easy.
