Do website editors really need to be sysadmins?

Hi folks,

Getting started with power pages (I'm a Dynamics system administrator) and getting kind of confused in the security part of the product. Am I reading correctly that if an employee in my organisation wants to edit a website, he needs to be a system administrator on the power platform?

I can't really imagine this to be the case. Any help on how to grant my colleague edit rights on the power pages portal would be gratly appreciated.

Thanks!

    Hi,
to create a new power pages, yes, you need to be System Admin of the environment. To edit it you need to be System Customizer
Edit a website By default, Power Pages design studio only allows system administrators to edit websites.

The system customizer role can be assigned and updated to allow other makers and developers to edit sites in your environment using design studio. You must bypass custom business logic and adjust privileges. System customizers need organization access (Read, Write, Append, Create, Delete, and Append to) for the Note table.

    pls try the following:

Power Pages Design Studio role is more appropriate.
Power Pages includes web roles for managing portal permissions. To allow someone to edit website content within the portal itself (if there are editable content areas), assign a web role with appropriate permissions.
In the Power Platform Admin Center or Dataverse, you can assign specific roles, like Environment Maker, which allows creating and editing apps but not the full permissions of a System Administrato
Once they have Environment Maker access, they can work on Power Pages using the Design Studio.

I got word from Microsoft support that indeed only a sysadmin can create webpages. I guess Power Pages is intended for smaller organisations - we won't be using it because of this.
