Apologies in advance if I missed an answer on the forum related to my question, but I believe each scenario is different. I have a client with SharePoint 2016 and I've developed Infopath forms for their lists and libraries. I proposed that they look into alternatives to ensure there is no halt in business once Infopath seize to exist. For their current situation, I need to know how many and what type of Power Apps license can I propose for them in order to start develop their forms in PowerApp.
They will use Power Apps to customize a form for a SharePoint List or/and Library only (no other connectors necessary). Each employee will access that form to complete their required monthly submissions. What type of license do I propose - should it be per user that needs to complete the custom form or is it only one for the developer that creates the form?
You can't do custom forms on SharePoint 2019 either using Power Apps. But to answer your question more directly, MS is clearly pushing everyone to move to SharePoint online.
Thank you, but what is MS's solution for InfoPath alternative if it discontinue in 2026. Or does Microsoft expect everyone will then be either on 2019 or 365?
You can't create Custom forms for on-premises SharePoint using Power Apps. Custom forms is a SharePoint online only feature.
You can create Power Apps apps for on-premises SharePoint installations, but that will require an on-premises gateway. On-Premises gateways require a premium license. Both the per app (one app/per user/month) or the per user (unlimited apps/per user/per month) are premium licenses. There is also a new pay as you go per app license that applies only to active users of a particular app in a particular month.
