We sell software and would like to create a client user community and a front-end client portal for case creation that integrates with our D365 CRM. We are averaging 11k visitors a month. We have been told that we could do it with powerapps portal, but we wonder if that is what the application is designed for?? Would a portal connector to a front-end website be something to consider? What have you seen others do to create an open customer community experience that integrates with the D365 dataverse? I hope you can help with our question and that we can benefit from your collective experiences.

PowerPages/Portal is tightly coupled with Dynamics 365 CRM (Dataverse) - it only works with online not on premise installations.
The Custome Self Service Portal (template), allows your uses to login and log Cases.
Pretty much all other connectors etc you are adding either your own Developers or 3rd Parties into the picture. If 3rd parties you may introduce a risk if you do not have the source code e.g. if they go out of business.
